ENGAGEMENT THROUGH SKILLS ENHANCEMENT

 We are dedicated to combating drug abuse and promoting mental health through active community engagement. By leveraging the power of sports, arts, and outdoor activities, Elevate Minds creates a positive environment where individuals can build resilience, boost self-esteem, and cultivate healthy habits. Through sports leagues, creative workshops, and mental health awareness campaigns, the foundation aims to empower youth and adults alike to overcome addiction, manage stress, and lead fulfilling lives. Our holistic approach fosters community support, encouraging both physical and emotional well-being. In line with our mission, to engage youth through learning and attaining new skills, we have organized a training and skills that will help them secure job in the same organization or in Nairobi center, the training is about how to make envelope, packaging bags, gift box and medical mini-envelopes. After the training an exam and analysis will be conducted and the best students will be employed at the company with good starting salary. Currently we have organized and paid trainings for 5 students who are being monitored and later be examined. Our beneficiaries are diversified; male and female, young and adult and Christian and Muslims. We hope to create an environment free from plastics bags and thus partnering with NEMA to achieve our objective. Below find a picture of our beneficiaries being trained;

From Bula Barwaqo to a Better Wajir: Why We Must Choose Merit Over Tribe

  This past weekend, WAJIR YOUTH FOR YOUTH AND DEVELOPMENT sat beneath the acacia trees of Bula Barwaqo with a circle of community elders, women, and youth—some seated on woven mats, others standing under the harsh sun, all with one purpose: to talk truthfully about leadership in Wajir. For too long, many of us have voted not with our minds, but with our clan affiliations. Leaders are chosen based on who elders endorse, not what they’ve delivered. But the cracks are showing—our schools are struggling, water taps run dry, youth are unemployed, and women continue to be excluded from decisions that affect their daily lives. "We Promised Them Pads”: A Journey Through Wajir’s Schools

 Yesterday, we set out on what we thought would be a typical outreach trip—visiting schools across Wajir to talk about PSEA, career guidance, mental health, and the power of opening up. But what we encountered was far more than we expected. It was a wake-up call. As we moved from one school to another, engaging students in peer-to-peer sessions, we were inspired by their dreams and resilience. We spoke about how to navigate life’s challenges, how to break the silence around mental health, and how to fight stigma—especially in a region where silence often feels safer than speaking out. We visited SABUNLEY BOYS, WAJIR GIRLS AND SENIOR ADAN GIRLS But then, something deeply troubling emerged.
